I built a learning app called Grasp.
It takes a subject and turns it into a structured course. Quizzes, flashcards, spaced repetition.
You cannot skip ahead. You answer your way forward.
Everything runs on your phone. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
Why not just read
Reading feels like learning. It is not.
You finish a chapter, you feel like you know it, and a week later there is nothing left. The feeling of understanding and actually understanding are two different things, and reading only gives you the first one.
Active recall is the other way round. Pulling the answer out of your head is harder than reading it, and that difficulty is the part that makes it stick.
So Grasp does not let you move on until you have answered. That is the whole design.
Spaced repetition
You forget on a curve. Most of it goes in the first day.
The way around that is to see the thing again right before you would have forgotten it, then wait longer, then longer again.
The app tracks what you got wrong and brings it back. What you already know stops appearing. What you keep missing keeps coming.
Offline, and in your language
Everything is stored locally in SQLite. There is no sync, no server, no account. Close the app and the data is still just on your phone.
That also means it works with no internet, which matters more than people building these usually assume.
It runs in English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Most learning apps stop at English and expect you to cope.
What is in it
Courses across mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology and economics.
A whiteboard for working problems out rather than only answering them. Daily goals, streaks and mastery scores, so you can see whether you are actually improving or just showing up.
The content is open source and lives in a Git repository, so anyone can add to it or fix what is wrong.
